This was our first visit to Carlsbad Caverns and our first visit to Bosque del Apache with birds present, but it's our second visit to White Sands National Monument just outside Alamogordo, New Mexico. We have had 2 fine days for photography, generally lots of light, usually 'hard' for clean shadow lines and the skies have often been spectacular ... sometimes whispy, sometimes full of lines and shapes.
