Carlsbad Caverns turned out to be a joy to visit and a most  interesting place to photograph. They welcome photographers!. "Bring your tripod, use your flash, we understand!". WOW, that is nice. As a result there were lots of folks with digital cameras using their flash! What we  did not learn until day 2 was that they use several kinds of artificial light in the cavern ... therefore several colours of light. What to do! June went to an incadescent light setting and from time to time used her on-camera flash. Tom used his more powerful Nikon Speedlight for flash, shot on 'Auto', and used incadescent white value on Aperture preferred. We both used tripods and have the same capture lit several ways for future 'stacking'. It should be fun!
Yes, some of the images are unusual ... but they seem right for such and unusual environment. We also show a couple of photos above the caverns ... some 750 ft underground. We were here too early for the bats.
Strange stuff! Weird even. But a marvellous place to visit.
Think: Dante's Underworld.
